Archie - pet adoption
today I went to Liberty Animal Shelter as I always do each Saturday and Sunday for an hour or two. it was a big day today because it was Mutt Awareness day and a bake sale was going on. I arrived in the cattery and was there for maybe 10 minutes when the employee needed a break and a family came in that wanted a cat and I was asked to assist them. they wanted one that would get along with dogs, of which I had no idea. none of the identity cards have info specifically about dogs. so, they picked a couple that they wanted to see, but these particular cats weren't as gregarious as the one I had in mind. Archie has been one of my buddies that I spoil at the shelter. he's playful, warm, sweet, and everything a cat lover could want...and he's 3 years old. for some, that's a little too old, and even this family asked for one that was 6 months to 1 year old. but when I opened the cage and had them engage with Archie by picking him up, letting Archie sniff their hands, and letting members of the family hold him, they were sold. they could see how friendly and sweet he is. he rolled around in the cage, presenting his belly for rubbing. he had a toy that he played with, grasping in his paws every few minutes. in spite of his 3 years, he is still kittenish. finally, the family said they wanted him. the young son in particular was taken with him. I was so happy that a cat I had campaigned for was being adopted! it is so rewarding to help sheltered animals and I hope to champion for more and have the same success over and over. the feeling is immense, and I'm so grateful that I have the privilege to serve and help the community. it has changed everything in my life. here's to volunteering!

my mission
my mission in life, that I have committed myself to, is to work to help all living creatures, human, animal, and plant, to the best of my ability.
I have my acupuncture practice, which is growing slowly. I have also been volunteering at my local animal shelter, the very same that I adopted my cat from. when I'm there, I am full of purpose and giving love and affection the cats. each one has a special personality. I look at my cat and think how lucky she is to have our family. I pray, and sometimes cry, for the souls at the shelter that have no family. they are lucky to have the shelter and a clean place to live, with food and water. but I still feel and ache in my heart and hope that I can continue the mission of finding homes for them without losing my sanity. it's mind boggling how long some of them have been there. luckily, the shelter keeps them until they are adopted. I pray that my efforts will continue to be fruitful and that God will bless their little souls.
amen.

Hello
I haven't blogged in a while, so I suppose I should say something...
Starting an acupuncture business is damn hard! This is a business that runs on word of mouth and referrals, so, you have to have patients in order to do that. I've had a few, but I've heard the first year, and even the second and third, are tough.
I am running a special throughout the summer - $50 treatments on Saturdays!
I will never let go of my dream - to help as many people as I can through this healing art! It may take some time to get there, but persistence is key and I have to stay positive.

Acupuncture and Chronic Sinus Infections
Chronic sinus infections can cause headaches for many people, literally and figuratively. There are specific acupuncture protocols to treat sinus congestion; but one must maintain treatment for any chronic illness on a regular basis.
